We Bought & Tested the Most Popular Fingerprint Locks in 2024. Here's Why Digilock Is #1
Summary: This is the safest, most durable, easiest to use, and most convenient fingerprint lock on the market right now! It gives you full control without the burden of keys to keep track of. Plus, the battery lasts for at least 6 months and will alert you as the battery runs below 30%.
I’ve been reviewing tech for over ten years and have seen so many fads come and go.
A couple of years ago fingerprint locks for doors came and I was skeptical. But I always thought that padlocks would be great with fingerprint recognition.
Finally, the time has come and there are thousands of fingerprint locks available. But I see so many of them failing to deliver the most basic security features.
I went through every option I’ve been able to get my hands on and found worryingly few that managed to deliver proper security.
Because when it comes to security and efficiency, you want a solution that contains as few steps as possible, as each added step or feature is a possible point of failure. It’s a simple rule in engineering. And there is only one that abides by that law like no one else.
And it’s called Digilock!
First Impressions
I was super excited to see the package arrive just three days after I placed my order.
Upon opening the package, my initial reaction was, "wow! This thing looks solid."
Everything from the way it was packaged to the design looked excellent.
It really has no weak point, no place to attack it, no place that could get damaged. It’s just a solid block of metal with a fingerprint reader in the middle.
Fingerprint Registration
There’s a simple 2 step guide to registering fingerprints.
1. I pressed and held the reader until the light above it turned blue.
The blue light indicates that the Digilock is ready to register a fingerprint.
This mode can only be activated by an administrator.
2. I pressed the sensor with my finger over and over again, trying different angles and pressure until, after about 10 tries, the light turned green, indicating that the registration was successful.
And as for Administrators, they are the first 2 fingerprints registered, and the following 8 registered fingerprints can only lock or unlock, but not enter new fingerprints.
Now that my fingerprint was registered I could lock and unlock the Digilock by just tapping the sensor. Simple, elegant, and quite cool.
Since I don’t plan to share my Digilock with anyone else, I added one finger on each hand in case I would damage my fingertip.
But if you have kids or an elderly who you suspect could lose their keys, this is a brilliant solution!
Foolproof
I did some research into hacking fingerprint locks and let me just tell you, it’s a hassle.
The amount of work needed to unlock a fingerprint is so tedious and requires a lot of planning to get a mold of the original fingerprint that you need to be storing national security sensitive documents to be a victim. And in that case, you’re not using a 1.8” lock.
Easy Readings
However, I definitely want to make sure I can unlock it yourself at any time.
I tried to unlock the Digilock in a variety of conditions, upside down, under different temperatures and light conditions, and with wet fingers to see if anything would be a problem for Digilock.
If you ever used a touch-controlled stove, it’s pretty much as simple as that.
Nothing interfered with the reading of my fingerprint except if my fingers were extremely wet. But then I only had to dry them on my shirt and then it worked again.
So it’s an extremely effective system that will serve you well.
Durable
I’ve also been battering the Digilock, dropping it, dipping it in water, and throwing it around the garden, but it keeps working just fine.
The fingerprint reader is placed in a depression in the body of the lock, so it isn’t scratched or damaged. It’s these well-designed details that separate Digilock from the rest.
Battery
The Digilock came pre-charged but I didn’t know if it was half charged or fully charged, and I didn’t want to wait 3 - 6 months to find out how.
I tried my best to drain the battery by locking and unlocking it. I used the Digilock as a “stress release” toy by just locking and unlocking it while watching TV.
I tried to use the fingerprint reader as much as possible for several days but I never got to the point where It alerted me of a low battery.
It’s really impressive that it could handle so much activity, I mean I must have locked and unlocked it several thousand times by the time I had to be done with this review.
But It would have been nice to see how the low battery alert worked with my own eyes.
It says on the manual that the little light above the fingerprint reader will turn red once the battery gets below 30%, and then there's an additional warning when the battery is really low where the light will blink and beep once every minute.
UPDATE: So finally my Digilock has started running out of battery. This is now 3 months after I made the review and I’ve been using Digilock frequently, but I guess it came half charged.
Anyway, it works just as the manual said and I only had to charge it with a USB for 30 min and now it’s back to being a silent servant and guardian of my things.

However, There Is ONE Problem I Need To Tell You About
Digilock has become so increasingly popular that the manufacturer has called out that they can barely keep up with demand.
And on top of that, there is an ongoing campaign right now where they have a 50% discount! So it's just a matter of time before they run out again.
Furthermore, some of my friends who have bought Digilock on my recommendation couldn’t get it in the official store as they were out of stock.
So they bought it somewhere else and they got some crap copycat version instead!
In other words, there are a lot of scams and copycat versions out there trying to leech off Digilock’s success.
So make sure you get yours from their official website and get them now before they run out of stock.

Other brands spend billions and billions on advertising. Guess who pays for that in the end? The customer!
