Looking for a high-end gaming mouse that won’t break your wallet?

The market for gaming hardware is very crowded and it can get confusing for consumers to know what to look for when they’re shopping.

We decided to review the 100 currently best-selling gaming mouses on the market and narrow it down to an easy-to-read list of the 5 best choices.

Our testing revealed that paying for expensive big brands can often be a waste of money. To our surprise, our test winner was actually from a smaller company that managed to beat the big brands in both design, features, tracking accuracy, and price.

Here’re our Top 5 Picks this year, with a full review of our top pick at the bottom of the page:

We Bought & Tested The Most Popular Gaming Mouses, Here’s Why Onikuma is #1

SUMMARY: In short it’s a perfectly designed, lightweight mouse that is perfect for high performance gaming. Regardless if you’re a professional e-sports player or a casual gamer this mouse is the #1 choice. In our testing Onikuma beat the competition for every type of game and on every device. It’s literally the perfect gaming mouse.

They are currently offering 55% off first orders on their website here.

UPDATE - Onikuma is currently sold out in retail stores nationwide. However, they may still be available on their website HERE.

I’ve been a total gaming nerd for the past 25 years. Years ago I even played professionally and I also have 2 kids that love gaming. So it’s safe to say I’ve spent more money than any sane person would on computers, mouses, keyboards and gaming related stuff.

So when I was tasked with researching the best gaming mouses on the market this year - I was thrilled.

Usually a high-end gaming mouse will set you back between $100-$300. That’s a lot of money.

But after hundreds of hours of research and thousands of my employers dollars spent on gaming mouses I discovered something.

Gaming should be accessible to everyone, regardless of the size of your bank account.

And that’s why I was so happy to discover that the people behind Onikuma price their products so that everyone can afford it.

First Impression

When I got the Onikuma delivered to my door only 2 days after ordering it, I was immediately impressed with the delivery process.

I was already positively surprised before even seeing the product.

When I opened the package and saw the high quality material shine back at my face I actually had to confirm it was the right mouse.

My assignment was to review gaming mouses under $100, and this looked more like one of the $300-$600 mouses I’ve bought for myself through the years.

We all know the difference between cheap brittle plastic and high grade quality materials, and the same goes for high performing mouse designs. I could instantly tell this gaming mouse had a lot of thought put into it.

Design

The reason why I’ve been warning my friends about “cheap mouses” is because they aren't built for precision or performance. They’re built to make a profit for the manufacturer.

And they are especially not designed to last, but most of all, they lose signal after as little as 5 million clicks (which would translate to 6-8 months for an avid gamer).

When I inspected the Onikuma I instantly noticed it fits perfectly in my hand. It just feels natural. The smart rubber grip pads on the sides feel super good on my fingers.

It’s not a wireless mouse, because anyone that knows anything about gaming knows that a wireless mouse will cause delays and a higher latency, which in turn hurts your performance in the game.

Overall, the design just makes me feel like I’m holding a piece of perfectly designed art in my hands. It’s hard to describe in words - but it just feels right.

But the game changer is their patented click mechanism. This is maybe the most important aspect of any mouse.

You want the mouse to register a click as soon as possible when you start putting pressure on the button - but you don’t want it to be too sensitive and start clicking when you don’t intend it to.

I have never before tested a mouse so light on the click while never ever recording any accidental clicks or double clicking. Truly amazing.

Testing

To make sure my product test was objective, I used several different software to measure each mouse that I tested.

The most important ones being MouseTester v1.5.3 and Enotus Mouse Test v0.1.4.

Testing each mouse in these softwares gives me an accurate and objective reading on:

  1. Sensor Sensitivity
  2. Tracking Accuracy
  3. Velocity Tracking
  4. Malfunction Rate

The softwares will accurately test things like, how accurate is the mouse tracking when you’re performing quick swipes with your hand? Does the mouse software interfere with the computer CPU? How long does it take for the mouse to record a click after the clicker was pressed?

After running all the checks the mouse is given an accuracy score of 1 to 100.

Out of the 50 mouses I tested, the average score was 76.3. Onikuma scored a whooping 96.3 while the closest runner up got 82.7. Truly impressive.

But winning on the technical score is one thing. The most important thing is, how does the mouse feel when you play?

To give a fair assessment here, I decided to play a variety of games because the requirements of a good mouse can differ depending on if you’re playing FPS games or an RTS or an MMO.

I also let both my kids test out the mouse to hear what they had to say. They both love Fortnite and Rocket League and spend hours on end playing it.

I spent a total of 50 hours playing Counter Strike, Dota 2, Overwatch and Fortnite testing the mouse.

The best gaming mouse is one that feels natural to use, fits just right in your hand and glides smoothly over the mousepad.

Onikuma does just that perfectly. The 50 hours of gaming flew by and I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time.

Not once did I experience any latency issues, false clicks or annoying mouse jumps.

It is by far the smoothest experience I’ve ever had with a mouse. It fits perfectly in my hand and the grip pads on the side never stops giving me the support I need.

What about durability you ask? The Onikuma is designed to last over 80 million clicks, which is over six times more than its closest competitor.

After my 50 hours of playtime I was completely sold. I am never ever buying a mouse from another brand ever again.

The Onikuma is perfect for anyone, regardless of skill level, age or what type of games you like to play.

What makes Onikuma different from other products?

You can't compare the Onikuma with anything in its price class, this is why.

Verdict

Whether you’re an e-sports professional, full-time Twitch streamer or just a hobby gamer, you will love Onikuma.

Its low price point of $35.00 (with the 55% discount) and mind blowing features makes this a no-brainer to buy. It’s perfect for yourself or to buy as a gift for a loved one.

A recent problem has occurred

The Onikuma has ironically gotten so popular in the gaming community that it has recently become quite hard to get a hold of one.

And if the manufacturer had a hard time keeping up with demand before, they will surely have a hard time now since the founders just launched a 55% discount.

So as you can imagine, it’s a little irritating that I can’t get enough of these mice for my friends and family who also love gaming.

And what's even worse is that some of my friends have accidentally bought fake copycat versions from companies that try to get in on the success of the Onikuma.

So make sure to order from their official website in order to get the real deal!

Common Questions & Answers

Q: Does Onikuma require any installation?

No. All you need to do is unpack it, plug it in and go!

Q: Is it wireless?

No, the Onikuma comes with a USB-C wire as this is the only way to secure low latency and accurate tracking.

Q: Can I customize the LED Lights?

Yes. You can install an app on your phone that allows you to control the lights with two different modes and customize it per game you’re playing.

How Much Does It Cost?

Normally, high quality gaming mouses go for at least $300, so one would expect the Onikuma to be in this price range as well...

But actually, the Onikuma sells for only $80.00, since the founders of the company are doing everything to keep prices low.

In fact, they are even running a 55% sale on their website right now, bringing the price down to just $35.00!

How Can It Be So Affordable?

Other brands spend billions and billions on advertising. Guess who pays for that in the end? The customer!

The Onikuma does very little advertising as they started in a local gaming community. They also don’t sell in any retail stores, it’s strictly online. This lets them keep the prices down as they don’t need to rent big store warehouses and have tons of staff.

Why Is It Discounted Right Now?

Ever since the pandemic started the founders of the Onikuma have vowed to keep it discounted for as long as possible to motivate people to stay entertained now that we are socially restricted. They simply believe that gaming is a key to mental health and relaxation and should be accessible to everyone.
