We Bought & Tested The Most Popular Knives, Here’s Why Huusk is #1
SUMMARY: In testing we found that Huusk’s highe ridge line (shinogi) and hollow indentations contributed to its superior sharpness and its reduced friction and stickiness. While simultaneously beating the competition in handling as no other knife offered an index finger hole for optimized control and safety.
They are currently offering 50% off first orders on their website here.
UPDATE - Huusk is currently sold out in retail stores nationwide. However, they may still be available on their website HERE.
I’ve been interested in knives since I went to culinary school in europe. Pretty early in my cooking career I found my passion for the art of making, handling and sharpening knives.
Posing The Huusk on my whetstones because this knife has made my passion for sharpening obsolete!
I am what you could call a knife snob even though I try not to be irrational when it comes to buying a new knife. You can obviously “cut” with almost anything that’s just slightly thin and rigid, but many knives on the market try to look like something they're not, and not everyone can tell the difference, believing anything with japanese writing on it is a high quality knife.
I primarily care about two things:
It should be easy to handle (Safe) ,and be able to hold its own edge ( Longevity )
While this Knife boldly claims to be the best handmade (yes, that means made by a person and not a machine) kitchen knife ever invented.
And that it offers better cutting power, longer durability, and higher quality than other kitchen knives.
I will admit that I didn’t expect much from the Huusk knife as I’ve encountered many superficial knives in the past.
But this knife is beyond my wildest expectations.
First Impression
So I got the Knife almost immediately after ordering it, and by immediately I mean two days. hich is pretty darn fast I will admit. But it had nothing to do with their bold claims. If it was even half as good as what they promised, I’d gladly wait 3 month for it. I mean people are signing up 6 month in advance for some handmade watches.
Anyways, I opened the (very beautiful) box and saw the knife. This is when I realized that Huusk might actually be able to live up to the hype.
I picked it up and it was well balanced and felt absolutely great in my hand.
A slight weight to it, yet easy to handle.
Design
There are many different ways to make a knife: Forged, Stamped, Ceramics, Stainless or Carbon Steel etc, and they all have their own disadvantages and benefits.
From the looks as if, the Huusk knife has managed to only take the benefits: strength and sharpness, from a forged carbon steel knife. And avoided the disadvantage of possible stains and rust by adding a black indented coat to the blade.
And while there are many different types of knives made for a vast variety of purposes.
The Huusk has combined the most important types into one with its genius shape.
You see, depending on whether you want to rapidly chop or delicately carve or remove bones, there’s a specific knife with its own shape and size to accomplish that task.
But Huusk has such a diverse range built into its shape that you can use this knife for almost any task, whether it's cutting a stake, chopping vegetables, boning a fish, filaying, slicing, dicing, mincing or carving.
It has both a straight and a curved part of its belly, meaning you can rock it like a classic chef’s knife or use it to rapidly chop vegetables and still ensure a complete cut.
Split test - 6 weeks of use
I have been using the Huusk and two other brand new knives as a benchmark.
And I have been through and made sure that I used them equally.
Now the other two knives were quite expensive so It’s not the most dramatic difference, especially since it’s only been six weeks.
But it's still very clear that the Huusk knife has kept its edge way better than the other two knives.
I don't know if it's because the Huusk knife is made of a richer carbon steel or because it’s handmade but it still slices through everything without any effort while the other two are starting to get dull.
Furthermore, I've grown very fond of the Huusk knife over these past weeks.
It is so sturdy and safe with the index finger hole and feels so extremely comfortable in my hand that I’d choose it over the other two even if they would have been sharper.
But I feel spoiled since I don't have to choose, the Huusk knife gives me everything I want in a knife: easy maintenance, safety, perfect handling and ergonomics, longevity, and a premium handmade look.
Overwhelming Heritage
I wanted to know how it could be that the Huusk knife could beat the other two knives that were twice as expensive, so I did some research, and I couldn’t believe what I found out.
The Huusk knives are made by third generation expert bladesmiths that flawlessly handcraft each knife into a durable and beautiful masterpiece with a process that requires 138 steps that take over 2 months!
Conclusion: Is It Worth It?
There is no way for me to describe how happy I am with the Huusk Knife.
Partly because I’m still speechless as I don’t think the words “amazing” or “brilliant” completely honors all the benefits the Huusk knife provides.
Simply put, yes, it’s absolutely worth it, even if it would cost three times as much, it is still the best knife in my kitchen.
And if you’re somehow still on the fence about it, don’t worry, the Huusk knife is such a superior knife that you get a 30 day money back guarantee as proof that you won’t regret it.
How Much Does It Cost?
Normally, professional knives go for up to $250- $3000, so one would expect the Huusk knife to be somewhere within that price range...
But actually, the Huusk knife sells for only $59.90, since the founders of the company are doing everything to keep prices low.
In fact, they are even running a 50% sale on their website right now, bringing the price down to just $29.95!

That’s a small price to pay for a knife that has been perfected over several generations!
How Can It Be So Affordable?
Other brands spend billions and billions on advertising, factories, wherhouses, and corporate infrastructure. Guess who pays for that in the end? The customer!
The Huusk knife does very little advertising. They also don’t sell in any retail stores, it’s strictly online. This lets them keep the prices down as they don’t need to rent big store warehouses and have tons of staff.
They just make knives.
Why Is It Discounted Right Now?
The Huusk knife was developed as a passion project, never meant to really become the big international hit that it is today.
Since the development and sales started in a small community and slowly grew because of how superior the knife was and not because of marketing. They realized that they would make more than enough profit without having to exploit the customer.
And to prove this concept even further, they said:
“The demand will tell whether this is the best knife ever, and in that case, we will still make a profit, even at a discount.”
